This package includes a 9.5M waterproof rear camera cable, making it suitable for longer cable runs in utes, trucks, vans, SUVs, 4WDs and commercial vehicles where the rear camera needs to be mounted outside the vehicle.

With dual Sony STARVIS 2 sensors, front and rear HDR, built-in GPS, 2.4GHz / 5GHz Wi-Fi, voice control and an IP67 waterproof rear camera, the A229 Ultra-W 2CH is ideal for vehicles where an internal rear camera is not suitable.

Compared with standard 1080P or 2K rear cameras, the 4K waterproof rear camera provides more rear-facing detail, making it a strong choice for reviewing rear-end incidents, vehicles approaching from behind, parking events and road conditions behind the vehicle.

This package includes a 9.5M waterproof rear camera cable. The longer cable length helps ensure the rear camera can be routed properly to the back of a ute, truck, van, SUV, 4WD or commercial vehicle.

This is especially useful for larger vehicles where a standard short rear cable may not be long enough, or where the cable needs to be routed through roof lining, side trims, tailgates, canopies, rear doors or rear body panels.

Ute / truck installation note: The included 9.5M rear cable is suitable for many larger vehicles, but final cable fitment depends on the vehicle size, body style and cable routing path. Professional installation is recommended for utes, trucks, vans, canopies and commercial vehicles.

Both the front and waterproof rear cameras use Sony STARVIS 2 image sensor technology, helping deliver improved image quality in daytime, night-time and high-contrast driving conditions.

The dual STARVIS 2 setup is especially useful for drivers who want strong video quality from both the front and rear cameras, not just the front camera.

The waterproof rear camera is designed for exterior installation and is rated IP67. It is suitable for vehicles where rear windscreen mounting is not practical, such as utes, vans, trucks, 4WDs, camper setups and vehicles with canopies, tailgates, blocked rear glass or heavy rear window tint.

Common mounting locations include near the rear number plate, tailgate, rear bumper area, truck cap, tonneau cover or rear door, depending on the vehicle and installation requirements.

The A229 Ultra-W supports HDR on both front and waterproof rear cameras. HDR helps balance strong highlights and dark areas, making footage easier to review in high-contrast conditions such as bright sunlight, tunnels, night driving and headlight glare.

This can help improve number plate readability and overall footage clarity in difficult lighting conditions.

Built-in GPS records driving data such as speed, location and route information. This can be useful when reviewing footage after an incident or checking trip details using compatible VIOFO playback software or app support.

The A229 Ultra-W includes built-in 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, allowing connection to the VIOFO app for live view, settings adjustment, video preview and file download.

The 5GHz Wi-Fi connection can provide faster video transfer compared with standard 2.4GHz Wi-Fi when used with compatible phones.

Voice control allows supported commands such as starting recording, taking photos and turning Wi-Fi on or off without touching the dash cam. Voice notifications also help alert you to setting changes, recording status or memory card issues.

The A229 Ultra-W supports parking mode functions including Auto Event Detection, Time-Lapse Recording and Low Bitrate Recording.

For parking mode operation, a compatible VIOFO hardwire kit such as the HK4 or HK6, or a suitable battery pack such as the VIOFO BP100, is required and sold separately.

Instead of a traditional lithium battery, the A229 Ultra-W uses a built-in super capacitor. This is better suited to vehicle environments where dash cams may be exposed to heat, cold and daily temperature changes.

The A229 Ultra-W package includes a front CPL-200 filter. This helps reduce windscreen glare and dashboard reflections, improving front camera image clarity in bright driving conditions.
